It's A Long Time Since Your Heart Was Frozen

by Viola   May 30, 2008

Your seeds of hope
You planted them well
Covered them in dirt
And expected them to grow
But spring came and they're not there anymore
Nothing sprung out, nothing grew.

This is what I see
Though you never wanted me to see
When I look at you after you hear the news
Just when it begins to get good
It gets bad again
And the anger surges through your veins

Now I wish I could lie to you
And say it doesn't matter
But what use would that be
It wouldn't make it any easier to swallow

Coincidently it started to rain today
It's like the world knows it's not a day for sunshine
We get our clothes wet
As we breathe in damp air
Walking through the streets that once used to lead to somewhere

I know what you're thinking
Even when you look down to the floor and try to fight your tears
I know what's going through your mind
But I hope beyond all my reasons for doubt
That you don't fail to remember
That sometimes it has to get worse for it to get better
