A Light in the Darkness

You’re trapped
All around you is dark
But you see a light in the distance
A far away hope, a spark

You chase it
It fades away
The blackness surrounds it as
Night swallows the day

You run your fastest
You try your best
But the light has gone
Now you have to guess

Which way to run
To find your light
But how can you know?
When it’s as dark as night

Disappointment surrounds you
It fills your soul
When will you reach
Your sought after goal

You just want safety
Security and rest
A time to sleep
After you tried your best

You see a shine
You feel a glow
You start to realize
And then you know

The source of the light
Where it starts
Has always been inside of us
Deep inside our hearts
