Dear Lord

by Michael D Nalley   Jun 1, 2008

Dear Lord, there are those who think you
Were born in the minds of mortal men
Your Father knows the exact time because
You will always be and always have been

Each one that is born of the flesh
Is certainly destined once to die
The true mystic senses that there is
More to life than what meets the eye

The materialist believe only in thought
To prove what is real and what is not
Searching natural phenomenon to find
If anything at all exist beyond the mind

To deny the mind, heart, and immortal, soul
To the faithless is such as a worthy goal
Meaningless and endless is this passion
All will cease of course in the same fashion

In the year of our Lord it is a sad shame
When many are afraid to call Your name
Wise men will seek what is essentially true
We don't need to be mystics to follow You
