The Road Ahead

by ALEX   Jun 1, 2008

I want to live in hippie dresses,
skirts and scarves, with
ink describing life on my stomach
and the spot below my ear.

I want to sing, just when the mood strikes,
and fly away to happy times.
With petals in my curls, I'll breathe-
the world will spin, politely, to say hello.

I want to wrap a snake around my neck
and drown in the harmonies of traffic.
I'll keep the bags from the stores where I'll buy shoes-
Cut them up, collage them to my walls.

I want to leave safe shelter behind-
find a place to find my dreams.
Grow herbs in the pots on my windowsill,
the road ahead is brightly tinged indeed.
