Nearest place to heaven on earth

by Sweet Miss J   Jun 1, 2008

When I see this wondrous view
It sweetens everything I do
All this beauty and open space
Puts a smile upon my face
I know I work too hard at times
But still find time to write some rhymes
Badgers, foxes, mink and deer
All of them are very near,
Sun, or rain or wind or ice
What ever weather it's paradise
As every day dawns bright and new
I know that there is lots to do,
But still I find a half an hour
To admire a blooming flower
You must think I'm very silly
To relish a flowering water lily.
To marvel at bee orchids rare
Or at the vista stand and stare.
Photograph a dragon fly
Watch a goldcrest flying by
Hear a woodpecker tapping wood
Live here forever if I could
When the time comes and I must leave
I know for many years I'll grieve
And if you should see this view one day
I know it will take your breath away
Asked to explain this sanctuaries worth
It's the nearest place to heaven on earth

I love the picture you paint, and I can totally relate to how you sometimes work too hard, and know it, but still take such deep pleasure in the earth, and marvel at it. I think i'm going to go photograph a dragon fly - that sounds like a cool idea =)
