Happiness...
A fleeting thought.
A moment that does more harm than good;
For when the hilarity ends-
Which is often soon after it begins-
All that is left
Is a memory.
A home-video that haunts you
When life is playing chess
And you're the pawn;
To remind you of how
Things used to be.
Look at you laugh.
Look at you smile.
Look at friends who left,
Friends who never were.
A price accompanies every joy.
The cost of the good times
Is remembering they happened
And knowing they can never
Occur again.
So frolic and play
And photo away,
But remember nothing gold
Can ever stay.
Sooner than you think
Life will fade to black
And you'll be left with only
A wish for the good times back.
