I wish the truth was a lie

Compared to the things I've seen
as simple as they may be
you barely skimmed the surface
of the world that I can see

Terrible things lurk everywhere
in places you may not believe
they hide in darkness, waiting
until the day the light will leave

I know you just don't get it
you think the worlds a safe place
try to look past fake smiles because
you can never trust a pretty face

But maybe its better for you to think
that theres no trouble nearby
I know I wish I'd done the same
and believed the truth was a lie
