Fire and Ice (Choose)

by Spoken Silence   Jun 3, 2008

** Okay, I was reading through some poems and I came across a poem by Robert Frost called "Fire And Ice" and I liked the title of it so I thought I would write something to go along with that title. Just thought I would leave a note on that incase any of you say something about it. **

A river of ice flows around your heart,
Freezing everything around you.
Chilling anything that gets close.
Your heart is black, black as coal.
But as cold as the ice burgs in the Atlantic.

When you touch me and as you look at me.
It burns. I can see the fire in your eyes,
The lust within them.
Your exterior is hot,
But your insides are cold.

For whatever emotions that lie inside of you,
Are dead, and have been dead for some time now.
And as they rot they freeze,
They stop with no emotion,
None able to escape your icy heart.

Everything you want is just for pleasure,
It burns you, burns anyone around you.
That pleasure shall only ease the frozen ores.
Your contemplating which to choose.
The feelings of emotion and what it can bring,
Or the lust that pleasure could subside.

So I demand for you to choose!
Cave in to what feeling shall please you.
For I won't be lingering here forever,
Choose! and melt the ice around you and let me in.

I love that poem by Frost, but what you've done is great. It compliments Frost's poem without stealing anything or trying to overwrite it.
Very descriptive and (wait for it...) emotive (how many times hav i used that word-haha)
    Very cleverly done!!!

    Also loved the last stanza!!!
