Beneath The Soil

by David ODonnell   Jun 4, 2008

Today I made a sacrifice
I loved and lost and learned
I paid my dues, an unfair price
And came out scarred and burned

Mistakes Ive made but not alot
Ive seen where I went wrong
Fell out of love and never caught
Ive fallen for so long

The ground I see is dead and gone
My path has been erased
I smack the ground I once walked on
My body scarred and grazed

At last I travel beneath the soil
A journey I have begun
My fingers scrape with mud and toil
The damage has now been done
