I never was the commitment type
didn't seem to be my way
never gave it up that easy
just didn't know what to say

it gave me security knowing
what no one else could do
the first time you held my hand
didn't understand what I'd got myself in to

it felt risky at the start
like you were taking so much away
the key to me being happy
you made everything feel okay

we were together for a while
and as the days grew more
i felt the worst thing i thought i ever could
an attachment i hadn't had before

now you had almost all of me
and so suddenly you cold take it all away
and that's exactly what you did
