School Through the Janitor's Eyes 15/15

by Ashleigh Skye   Jun 6, 2008

Each and every day I come to school,
and each day I make it shine,
scrubbing and scouring the walls and floors,
leaving my worries behind.

Lugging around the garbage can,
while looks of sadness and pity are shot my way,
jumping to conclusions about my life,
and how I go there today.

Everyone thinks I must have had it hard,
in order to end up where I reside,
been dealt a losing hand in the game of life,
and run out of places to hide.

But everyone has got it wrong,
I had the picture perfect life,
the perfect up bringing, the perfect kids,
the perfect friends, and the perfect wife.

I had the very best education,
a teacher was what I was going to be,
but after all of that schooling,
I decided that it wasn't for me.

I then became a janitor,
to make the schools shine as bright a the sun,
to help children face the day with a smile,
and know there are better days to come.

And every day that I come to school,
I know my choice was right,
for the laughter and smiles of these kids,
are more amazing then penguins in flight.

Walking down the sparkling hall,
a smile plastered on my face,
knowing despite what people say,
my happiness they cannot erase.
