Everyday Superhero

by Ashleigh Skye   Jun 6, 2008

You don't have special powers,
the ability to stop the clock,
you can't run faster than a cheetah,
or escape through any lock.

You cannot turn invisible,
or have the power of one thousand men,
you cannot read other people's minds,
and when you're gone you won't rise again.

You can't control the elements,
or stretch your arms as you wish,
you can't break eardrums with your scream,
or breathe underwater like the tropical fish.

Seeing through objects is a no-no,
along with crawling on the wall,
you can't become the size of a giant,
and as well you can't get to small.

But even though you can't do that,
you fight a battle all the same,
a battle of wills and attitudes,
with a strength that no one can tame.

Your will can shatter all doubters,
for you have the ability to love and be mad,
you can see a kitchen demolished beyond repair,
but the child's smile can still make you glad.

You can cure any illness,
with a simple brush of your lips,
a director for late night play practices,
the perfect help for study tips.

A one of a kind superhero,
who never takes a break,
and when god put you up the the challenge,
he didn't make a mistake.
