Not My Mother

by MadisonMetamorphosis   Jun 6, 2008

I've got my style,
I've got my own mind.
I've got my own walk,
I've got my own talk.
I've got my own name.
I've got my own life.
So why do I keep hearing,
"Your just like you mom?"
People keep telling me that
I look exactly like my did.
Then they wonder why
I get offensive.
They say I'm like her in this way
And that way.
They say,
"Yah, your definitely
You mom's daughter."
Some ONLY know me as
Trish's daughter.
Well let me give you the latest
F.Y.I.
The last time I checked,
noone was the same.
I get offensive about
looking like my mom
because I don't wanna be
a duplicate.
Sometimes, I wish people
would know me as ME.
I'm Madison, not Trish.
I'm me, not my mom.
Get it right, or just walk on by.
So try opening your eyes sometime,
and maybe for once,
you just MIGHT see ME,
and NOT my MOTHER.

I relate to this poem because people are always tell me that I look just like my mother. I get tired of hearing it and it seems like everyone thinks I will end up just like her. I give this poem a 5/5.
