Words of the Aborted Baby (Free Verse)

by Ashleigh Skye   Jun 6, 2008

*Silence*
That's right an aborted fetus can't talk,
it's not a baby,
it can't feel pain,
it can't cry,
and it definitely can't wonder "Mommy why are you doing this?"
For a fetus is not human,
it's simply a blob of cells which if left to grow,
would then turn after a few weeks into the cooing babies we know and love,
but until that day comes,
it's basically like getting a hair cut.
A hair cut that could save an unwed mother from a life of hell.
It could also save the soon to be child from an unwanted life of,
abuse,
poverty,
and neglect from being that baby that wasn't wanted.
And don't think that the birth of this child will change minds,
that in fact could just as easily lead to many heartbreaking stories told second hand,
and lead to more heartache then ever deserved.
Is it really fair?
To bring a helpless baby into the world if the parent's aren't able to deal with it?
Should that mother be condemned,
if abuse is what lead to the child in the first place?
Should she be tortured with knowing that her own flesh and blood,
is out there somewhere,
and might try to contact her eventually bringing with it the memories.
Should that child have a life unfit for an animal?
Or
Maybe wouldn't aborting the fetus before it felt anything at all,
be the best plan of action.
Before it was able to feel all the pain that its life had in store for it,
before it cried endless rivers of tears,
and dealt with the pain of knowing it wasn't wanted.
As the free country we are,
we leave our women with the choice.
To have the child,
or
to abort the fetus.
So next time you talk about crying unborn children, selfish mothers, and unbearable pain,
just think,
aborting the fetus before it grows,
before it can feel,
and before its human,
might just be the best idea after all.
Because in many cases,
the life that lays ahead is a lot darker.
And if you must talk about this topic at all,
talk about the pain of the parents,
because that is the only sorrow that is ever felt.
For the aborted fetus can't feel and talk,
so unlike everyone surrounding them,
they stay,
tear free and silent.

Poet on the paino, I have researched my facts I think that you should take your own advice. I do apoligise however if I offended you with this poem. As for the throwing body parts out,, thats not true because there are no body parts to be gotten rid of because they havent formed yet. However I do agree with you on the genetic disorder thing, it should not be a form of birth control but if its need then I dont see anything wron giwth it. And any law can be protested we do live in a free country. God however gave us the knowledge to help save womens lives and help the lives of other children. Its not killing when its not a real person in the first place. As I said in my poem and I say again its a blob of cells not yet formed into anything so it is unable to feel anything.
