Butterflies Turn To Ashes

by JMoniqueBlynne   Jun 6, 2008

I spent so long on you
knowing id end up as the fool.
I'm not sure why i stuck around
i went out though, without a sound.

butterflies turned to ashes my dear
love now, is something i fear.
butterflies turned to ashes
burned at the heart
once whole, now apart.

Many mistakes have thee made
I wonder now, why i stayed.
it wasn't right the way you treated me
i don't know why i couldn't see.

butterflies turn to ashes my dear
love now, is something i fear
butterflies turned to ashes
burned at the heart
once whole, now apart.

Its better to have loved and lost
then to have never loved at all
as the saying goes.
i should have listened
and stayed away
but as my heart glistened
i didn't know, i would soon pay.

butterflies turn to ashes.......

I like this poem a lot, but the "thee" doesnt seem to fit the general style. also, that quote doesnt exactly warn one away from love, so i'm not sure how you meant to tie that in . . . anyway, i like the idea, and the butterflies turn to ashes part was such a beautiful metaphor. that what caught my eye -great idea :)
