A Faint Voice Whispers (Rondeau)

A Faint Voice Whispers

Somewhere a faint voice whispers in the night
Every cruel secret it's been hiding from the light
No one suspects the darkness deep within
The vile threats and the multitude of sin
All of this is kept out of sight

Who will draw back the long and ponderous veil?
When will there be a balance of the scale?
Still the sound carries on the restless wind
Somewhere a faint voice whispers

The hushed tones spoken are heard everywhere
The hot breath of hate fills the foul, rank air
It's the sound of madmen forged by design
Crimes we've committed - they're yours and they're mine
You'll ne'er be rid of them, so have a care
Somewhere a faint voice whispers

A Rondeau is a French form, 15 lines long, consisting of three stanzas: a quintet, a quatrain, and a sestet with a rhyme scheme as follows:

aabba aabR aabbaR.

Lines 9 and 15 are short - a
refrain (R) consisting of a phrase taken from line one.
The other lines are longer (but all of the
same metrical length).

Corinne, this really echoed through me, first stanza powerfully wripped out the emotions, stepping the reader straight in,

"Somewhere a faint voice whispers in the night
Every cruel secret it's been hiding from the light"

Vividly continuing throughout this piece the other stanzas held the flow and rhythm gliding the chilling whispers of your words surrounding the existence of a screen with letters on it to a real thought, a real moment, given real life, so much more than words, what I call "words written with art using strength from the heart"
    Fantastic, 5/5

Nice job on the rondeau....Love the imagery of the whispering darkness and the secrets held by the night.
