A Song Forever Ours

by NightFlyer   Jun 7, 2008

Time sends its vapors across the sapphire sky,
So sad, so real, in this blue moment,
To see my love for you,
Reflected in the crescent moon.

As night, like a sapphire curtain,
Sweeps across the heavens,
So time and life pass on.
Our love was real, but it slipped into dusk,
Though still shining with the certainty of the Evening Star.

Fair Venus, queen of the dusk,
Guard our love,
Though I travel beyond the sea,
On my life's final voyage.

Let our love last past the aeons,
These stars now reflected in depths of the coming dusk.
Let them reflect your green eyes.

I will be there,
Far beyond the mists of the midnight sea,
To the ocean's depths,
Past the centuries,
To send you this song, a song forever ours.

Thank you, Patricia! I agree with you. I will be moving in some months and leaving behind my best friend who I've known for many years. The sadness I am feeling inspired me to write this poem.
