They Were One

by I Seem to be the Heartless   Jun 8, 2008

I looked at a picture today,
And saw something I've dreaded to see.
There he was, gorgeous as ever,
But beside him,
Oh beside him,
There she stood.
She, his wife,
The love of his life.
A piece of me died.
I felt my heart
Being ripped out of my chest.
She's beautiful,
I don't stand a chance!
I stared at the picture in disbelief,
Tears flowing down my face.
Slowly the colours began to swirl together,
Flowing into one.
They were one.
One.
The way I wished WE could be.
But how could I EVER
Compare to such beauty?
I can't...
And now here I sit,
A fool,
With my crimson tears
Staining my cheeks.

Beauty is a bonus, its the inside that counts.
