The Girl Who Won

by claire   Jun 8, 2008

So sad
So weak
Day by day
Into her mind and life
The darkness seeps

She fights
She does
She wants to be all she can
Or at least who she was

She's not lying down
She's not giving up
She's not going anywhere
She's tougher than tough

She looks at you with a dare in her eyes
Looks at the clouds, and forces herself
To see sunny skies
She turns sorrow to anger,
Anger to drive
She'd die if it meant
Staying alive

The sobs come
She can't stop them
But you bet
She stops, the second she can

This girl is fierce,
She's who you'd want to be
If you ever had the misfortune
To be so excruciantingly unhappy

She paints a picture on her wall
Writes a poem
About her downfall
But she won't admit what they're for
She's not going to die
Til she's lived a hell of a lot more

She makes up her mind
In the school, she puts out her poem, her art
She stays home from school that day
As they're seen and read
They pierce every heart

That girl's still alive
She made it, she lived
She had nothing to fight for
But she fought for hope
And made herself win

That girl only hoped
People would learn from her story
Maybe be a little kinder
Make the world a little less gory

She wanted to do something worthwhile
And maybe she did
Maybe we'll all be a little kinder
To that sad-looking kid.

I think the lack of structure added to the overall power of the piece.Kinda sad but kinda happy too, good job.5/5
