Coming from a family of twelve kids
No one noticed me
With my mother being white
And my father begin black
Me being confused about my identity
While I asked my mom, Am I black or white?
She would reply, You are neither black nor white, you are a child of God!
Still wanting to ask more
But never said another word
Wondering about my identity
Wanting to know more of who I was
I went to the past, my mothers past
To a past that no longer existed
This identity I have will be lost
Which is my identity
