Ravenwood Dawn

by Independence Forever   Jun 9, 2008

::for all fans of the CBS show Jericho::

safety off, secure the bulletproof vest
remember the orders, you're obligated
gather supplies for a FEMA camp nest
any rebels are to be strictly subjugated

how did I find myself in this line of work?
trucks are moving, driving into place
sent into Kansas as a Ravenwood merc
is a mercenary given any less grace?

trucks stopped by a road block
check your gear, prepare to move
a civilian stands solid as a rock
jump out we've something to prove

level your guns, prepare for our leader's orders
crouch down, look for an open shot to take
we're doing our jobs and they close their borders
don't they know we're here for their sake?

enemy sniper, one of our men is down
the civilians hide behind stacked cars
nows the moment let's get this clown
the tension high, their guns versus ours

reinforcements arrive, we're surrounded on both sides
men deploy to our rear flank ready for an order
midst our desperation our leader smiles and chides
we were sent in, how can we fall to such disorder?

the order comes, stand down and move out
the civilian defenders smile and revel
my body's tension eases but I want to shout
I feel relived on a disappointed level

before leaving our leader delivers a few last words
they resound in our hearts, and to our hope girds

"You Know, Pretty soon things are going to get back to normal, the government will put itself back together and they'll be looking to help all you get back on your feet, and you know who they're going to send? me."
