Taking That Leap Of Faith.

by Courageous Dreamer   Jun 10, 2008

I'm standing on a ledge,
Afraid to take that leap.
But I know if I don't now,
I never will.

I look over the edge,
And in my imagination,
I see your beautiful face before me.

My body gets warmer,
And the butterflies in my stomach won't go away.
Which makes me realize that no matter what,
My temperature rises each time you're around.

All these feelings for you reappear,
Which make me fall for you harder,
Making me more afraid to take that leap,
That leap of faith to fall in love with you.

My legs before me begin to tremble,
As I begin to lose control of my balance.
I'm scared to fall for you,
Because I'm afraid to know what comes after.

But I know that if it's not now,
It'll be never.
So I'm ready to jump and fly,
For now I know that if I take that leap of faith;
I'll be taking that one chance before it vanishes before my eyes.

    Absolutely beautiful!

i love every single line in this poem.. it was very imaginable.. the flow was perfect.. and such a true poem. its hard to let yourself fall in love but if you dont then you'd be left saying "what if" ..

    nicely done.

Wow! Amazing poem. I know that exact feeling the scared, uncertain, feeling of love. Not sure what's going to happen. Great thought for a deep poem. I love the symbolism of the leap and falling in love with someone. (5/5)

A very enjoyable read that begins very well for the first two stanzas and then gets verbose and sends the rhythm somewhere that I could not locate. This may be a prime problem I alone have but I believe that words without rhythm are prose and those with rhythm are poetry and this rhythm must continue throughout the work. If this is solely "old school" and there is a new standard I am sorry.
I loved the story and your telling of it, your words bring unto the mind's eye everything that is involved in taking that first fatefull step in romance.

    I liked this poem

    it felt slightly repeditive
    like trying to comvence ones'
self to take that path without
    looking back.

I liked the feelings that I got from it
It made me like the poem more

I am afraid that you might Have gone a little over the edge with the "speaker" convincing
    themselves TOO much.

but the poem moves easily from start to finish.
