Lullaby

by meganmarie   Jun 10, 2008

She's hanging by a single thread
her droopy eyes can see
her clock has almost reached an end
the end will soon be here

everyday she feels the pain
from the unknown disease she possesses
the lullaby starts and she has to the end
before her eyes see their last

her heartbeat slowly fading
the pain seems overwhelming
she holds onto the world
she just can't let go

her once bright and beautiful eyes
are now old, dull and in pain
her once lovely spirit
has now but faded to grey

she's going to hold onto the world
like a butterfly holds its flight
she will live through the pain of living
and her lullaby will continue
until her one last heartbeat sings

[[For my dog Sassy who is sick and in pain. her lullaby is almost over. I love you. <3]]
