The Putrescence of Mankind

by Shalkan   Jun 11, 2008

Once upon an age of truth
God had held the upper hand
You and I won't live to see
salvation for this ravaged land

You and I were together once
illuminated by the fires of curiosity
But the end of our time together draws nigh
as the ground shakes this atrocity

Brought together by an unexpected revelation
And torn by ill-conceived society
Our love lay damaged by speculation
and a lacking of propriety

Let this luckless world be bitter
For helplessness envelopes me
I send you down this putrid river
for all to weep, but none to see

Once upon an age of truth
God had held the upper hand
You and i have lived to see
This disaster by the mind of man
