Daddy

by Fallen Angel   Jun 13, 2008

She couldn't help but look back
At a self she couldn't leave behind
The reality left her in the gutter
She wiped a teardrop from her eye
Who was she to think he loved her?
To him she wasn't worth a dime
If only she could turn back time...
As a little girl she wanted him
To hold her close to his heart
But know she see's how they've grown
So very far apart
She wishes she could touch his face
And here the words upon his lips
She wishes he would say goodbye
And on her cheek, place a kiss
So where's daddy when she needs him?
To tell her it will be alright
To tell her that he loves her
Everytime he says goodnight
Where's daddy to pick her up
When she falls into the see
Where's my daddy when I need him?
I've lost a part of me...

This comes across emotionally well. I love when poets can put what may be to them very painful experiences and and turn them into something with rhythm and thought. Nice work.
