in the tears behind my eyes,
waiting 'til the next heartbreak
to escape their worthless lives?

so when I speak I begin to choke,
on my words that want to forget,
my proud voice then a feeble croak?

Can you hear the beat of my heart,
its irregular rhythm oh so true,

stopping each time I think of you?

the cries of agony and screams of pain,
with dreams and nightmares morphing as one,
always the same with a coffin in the rain?
