Back to you

by withlove   Jun 14, 2008

You take the long drive and stand in the rain
doesnt matter cause you have to say goodbye before he gets on that plane
he kisses your cheek and you hug for a while
as he drives off, you wave and fake a smile
although inside you really want to cry
cause you know that before you see him again years will go by
thats if youre lucky, many dont even come home
then you have to explain to your 3 year old why youre alone
but you hold it in and put on that face
the one that allows you to continue to wake up and make it through all the long days
the drive home seems longer, you walk through the front door
the house has never seemed so empty before
you wonder if they notice when you watch the news every day
checking for updates and anything that suggests hes not okay
lying in your bed you remember that hes not there
but you roll over and close your eyes pretending that you dont care
the night is filled with dreams about him and you hope theyll come true
soon hell be on that plane again coming back to you
