On the Edge ((of the world))

by StandStill   Jun 14, 2008

Stand on the obsidean cliffs
at the edge of the world with me.
The cliffs bottom out into nothing,
just the churning, cosmic sea.

The pinpoints of stars may burn your eyes,
but dearest one, they burn me whole.
Hold my hand in the velvet terror
that leaves marks upon ears like coal.

Darkest night, my dear one,
and we shall stand at the brink of insanity.
I'll take a step forward, you take a step back...
You can do what I can't...and that is leave.
