And yet i wonder...fads

by JCV   Jun 15, 2008

How can I miss you?
I have no recollection of your face,
Your image was just a blurred memory, which I once glimpsed
From the outside of where once you dined.
How can I long to be with you?
As if before we had been familiar?
How can I not know you and yet dream of being next to you?
Again. As if it were natural to be together.
And you pass by and the soft wind does not speak to me of your presence.
Longing continually presses upon me your absence.
There are many words and yet I can only speak to you with three,
How are you?
And should there be a moment that we chance upon each other,
Will there be faint recognition?
Of a far away memory?
Or something that had never happened and yet speaks of familiarity?
If there be a time when as I walk in a crowded park
My shoulders accidentally brush against yours,
Will you stop to look?
And look to recognize,
And pause before we again start walking away
Towards the days of our existence
Will you at least glance back at me?
Smile for a millisecond,
And unmindful of my past where-have-beens,
Wonder if it is worthwhile to even ask my name?
