Flying scared

by the dancing dreamer   Jun 15, 2008

My entire life
I've spent in a cage
of my own making.

comfortable
secure
warm
familiar

but now the time has
arrived.
I'm too big for my cage
which means
that I must make my own nest
in that scary world
outside my cage door.

but I'm scared
and insecure
about which way
to fly.

so I'll spread my wings
aim for the horizon
close my eyes
and try to hold back the fear

because flying scared
is just the hesitation
before the adrenaline
finally kicks in
