The day has begun
Here comes the moment when you breathe in the air
You've been trying to escape from for years
Leave behind the images in your head
Lucid dreams, undressed
Headlights on Dark Roads
Chasing Cars to the Finish Line
That beautiful white light
But that's not for you to decide
The difference between who you are and where you've been
Is all getting so blurry inside you mind
All the days spend trying to forget- mean nothing
When it all comes back
Memory has not failed to remind you how often you've failed
Hands Open you try to reach for more in the middle of the night
Searching through all the insignificant details
Trying to understand what it means to be able to take in another breath
To knowingly allow air to enter your lungs
But no matter how hard you look no answers ever come up
And you begin to question why you're still here
Saying it means nothing that you are still alive
You're angry, then indignant
And It's Beginning to Get to Me
That I have to convince you every time
To reconsider leaving it all behind
You've all been where you stand today
Today is just like every other day but longer
This is life and this is you trying to face what you've been running from
I beg you, You're All I Have
You Could Be Happy if you just allowed me to help
I'd do anything to make you understand
To Make This Go On Forever
Take my hand, there's no need to Run
We'll Set the Fire to the Third Bar
You'll make it worth every moment
Can't you see you mean everything to me
But I can't tell you what to do
You wouldn't listen anyway
So I hope to God you chose to lie down beside me in the fields of grass
Instead of in the cold ground alone
Shut You Eyes
And I'll sit counting your breaths, relieved every time your chest rises and falls expectantly
**The idea of this poem was to use every song title in Snow Patrol's album 'Eyes Open'. It took me a while to write but I enjoyed it. Hope you do too.
