Someone So Simple

by brie kelly wise   Jun 16, 2008

Theatres down the street crawl under my skin
I was a little more hopeful with a pen in my hand
If everyone could give me something so simple now
We wouldn't be out there amazing them with our sound

I feel it, I mean it, I see it, I want it
We felt it, we loved it, we saw it, we had it
If everyone could be someone so simple by the time they leave
We wouldn't be lighting a flame with the words we speak

Take my hand and walk me out of the debri
Show me what I saw as a child, what I longed to see
If everyone could be someone so simple
We wouldn't be sending off page after page
If everyone could give me something so simple
We wouldn't be losing ourselves day after day

I felt my flow, I meant my words, I saw my future, I want what I have
We felt the flow, we loved the words, we saw our future, we had it all
If everyone could give me something so simple
We would be loving ourselves day after day
Now if we could find something so simple back home
We wouldn't be strong enough to find it somewhere else
If only we could have survived being someone so simple all those years
We might've lost our chance to find what was missing
But they couldn't give us such simple things
So they filled our heads with what our escape brings
