It Doesn't Matter Anymore

by yblehs   Jun 16, 2008

The hand has been dealt
The road has been traveled
The past is the past
I can't remember what was felt

The hearts have burst into flames
Tears have fallen down
Heads have turned away
And now paths have been claimed

It's a new day so focus on it
Let mistakes be just that
Forgive what has been forgotten
And cherish what fits

In the past it mattered
But today it doesn't
So live for today
While today matters

I like this, it's very inspiring. Short, sweet, and to the point. Good job on conveying your message in such a small space.

The only thing I would work on is the syllable count. It varies too much, and it throws the flow off. That can be easily fixed, though, if you choose to do so. Another piece with great potential.

    Keep it up! :)

Great ending! This poem surely has an inspiring touch to it. The "friendly reminder" feel that I always enjoy to see when I read poetry. Very nice and simple to read. Nice work.

Awesome last stanza. That was just the most perfect ending. :) This poem is amazing. I love how you state that the past is in the past. I truely agree with you. The past is the past and we have to move on. :] 5/5
