Highway 16 [poem for T.J]

by TheWorldFellNUWerentThere   Jun 17, 2008

That highway seems so long,
So bare and so sad,
So many memories,
Paved in Highway 16.

The world frozen in time,
As the cool March day comes to mind,
A phone call to say,
Your life will forever be changed.

A black van,
With a gurney and body,
Wrapped with a bodybag,
A life to lay in a casket.

Highway 16,
The road where cars have flown,
Minds cluttered with memories,
Tears washing away happiness.

The world has changed,
Hearts broken,
Never to be mended,
Just to be left ripped open; bleeding.

A man who loved much, worked hard,
Left his family with memories,
Never to return to see tomorrow,
Took his last ride down Highway 16 in a black van,
With his spirit flying free.

This is a very well written poem. Very tragic yet a fine tribute to a seemingly loved man
