A Thousand Steps to Mt. Pulag

by orangebubble   Jun 17, 2008

The first day i set foot on mt. pulag
was the day i stopped talking to you
because you had no words for me
it was the day i walked a thousand steps
away from that lonely crossroad where u left me
that day, i stood at the top of the world
yet, i was at my lowest point because i was alone
but that same day i set foot on mt. pulag
was also the day i saw the sunrise of the next morning
warm rays of freedom against the cold wind
and i fell in love with its promise of calmness
that day, i walked back a thousand steps
and saw the same things differently

What caught my eye was the title. what made me read on was the beautiful way the contradictions were made in this poem. what made me vote for this poem is this line, "that day, i walked back a thousand steps
and saw the same things differently"
    keep on writing.
