Undone

by Michael D Nalley   Jun 18, 2008

You wonder what I want to run for
The knot was tied, I was done for
You needed someone, I was elected
At first I did not feel a bit rejected

In the beginning it all seemed fine
You did your thing and I did mine
I tried so hard to be your trusted friend
Even when you couldn't hold your end

Now it seems we have come undone
From a battle that can't be won
Each of us expecting some gratitude
That does not seem to be our attitude

Did we deserve everything we got?
In the conflict that we have fought
Are laws made only to be broken?
Like the sacred vows we have spoken

Flawless descriptions and imagery, such well-expressed thoughts. Your rhyming was right on target as was your flow, which brought the reader straight into this piece. I loved each and every part of this poem, each line so clevar and well thought out. I truly have no suggestions, keep up the awesome work! Take care and God Bless You!
