I Hate Funerals

by Spoken Silence   Jun 19, 2008

I hate funerals,
The sound of the mourners march,
With the coffin in hand.
Following an endless path.

I hate funerals,
With the people crying
For the soul that they lost.
Grieving will never come to an end.

I dislike funerals,
With flowers around.
I would prefer black roses in stead of red,
Because that really means I'm dead.

When the word funeral comes to mind,
I see people in black,
Never picking up a stride,
Following a line of others,
With tears in their eyes.

I hate funerals,
Because the person whose dead is me.

I hate hate hate funerals as well. Don't we all? They are full of crying that's for sure. :( Good job here, 5/5.

I love this stanza. Really sad but really well-penned. I like the subtle rhyme in it too.

Funerals are stereotypically sad and depressing, especially if it is your own damn funeral!!

Imagine, you're a ghost looking at all your family and friend's gloomy faces! Then later at the wake, listening to them all slandering you! Wouldn't that make you want to spend an eternity haunting them??

    Well done
