Beauty Beneath the Surface

by Kenny   Jun 19, 2008

~For A Contest~

Worn-out clothe hanging along
Her exhausted fragile shoulders
Chilling to death from violent songs
And fatal words like broad boulders

At every extravagant feast downtown
As she rejoice with the unbeaten rodents
Imparting left-over foods & her very own frown
A stranger of her world, valuing every
single cent

She's not as mellifluous as the royal dames
With sapphire lockets, ivory milky complexion
Not as stunning as queens with priceless fame
With elegantly admiring posture's erection

But within the depth of her vivid eyes
A lovable beauty of million princesses lies
A sweetheart veiling itself in perfect disguise
Beneath the outer surface, a beauty that
never dies
. . . goodness

Excellent poem. I like the message that beauty is only skin-deep if a person doesn't have a good heart. Kind of reminds me of the series The Wallflower. There were a few terms that didn't seem to fit but overall, great job.
