Miracles

by Poet on the Piano   Jun 19, 2008

What would happen if the sun never came up in the morning,
And if we never had that warmth, that nice pleasure, again?
What if rain, sweet wet rain, never fell down from the sky at all,
And we never felt that pure moisture fall upon our heads?

What would happen if pretty lilacs and lilies never bloomed,
And their wonderful, sweet-smelling scent, was never released?
What if snowflakes, pure and white, didn't fall on the ground,
And we couldn't make snow angels and sled upon it?

What would happen if the dazzling moon never came,
And it never lit up the night, dark and black, not even once?
What if the stars, so bright, never shone their beauty for anyone,
And we could never lie on our backs watching them twinkle?

What a poor and miserable world it would be,
If these things never appeared and existed.
For our world surely needs all of these blessings,
These truly remarkable God-given miracles.

You ask thought provoking questions in the first verses and then give us the answer with the last verse. An excellent read and very well written.

I love how this poem is written =D
How it makes you think about 'what if' and the wording flowed very well.

Sometimes we forget about all the beauty surrounding us. this poem has a great idea of the plenty little miracles around us. the descriptions are awesome, written with love and delight.
i just felt a bit disappoined in the last stanza. no, the meaning is still great (though i'm not a relegious person, i still think i can relate), but in poetic aspect the last stanza sounds a lot simpleier then all the prevous, like the rhythm, and wording as well, and it all demages the whole flow. maybe it's just me, but i think the last stanza doesn't fit.
but anyways it's wonderful that you draw people's attenetion to these precious things like beauty of nature...
    good job:)
