Contested

by Michael D Nalley   Jun 20, 2008

Do you love me or am I detested
Do I really deserve to be contested?
Am I worthy, you be the judge
Life's to short to hold a grudge

Once you embraced with open arms
Wooing me with seductive charms
I competed with some for your favor
To gain a friendship I could savor

Pride and envy were among my many sins
As I played your game that nobody wins
The court of approval is so congested
I am somewhat proud to be contested

*This was inspired by a contested divorce in case anyone is wondering

Another great write! This poem kept me interested and I really enjoyed reading what you wrote. Loved your last stanza, really ended it all well. Your emotions and thoughts were well stated here, so great job, keep it up!

Is is very short but very well writen....in my oppinion it takes a true poet to write a shorter poem than longer because you have to condence your feelings and thought into less words while still portraying the message.
    well done.
