Dreamers

by Deana   Jun 21, 2008

Dreamers

Eyes wide open, face the darkness
Insomnia rules the deep
Walk in fields of flowers
Where lovers chance to meet

Tears of life no longer fall
Or wash away the pain
Empty words from long ago
Still echo a sad refrain

Close your eyes upon the world
Dreamers long for sleep
Hide no more the aching heart
Sadness longs to weep

Gaze at clouds through wishful eyes
Rainbows disappear
Upon the mountain pure and clean
A fog is standing there

Will you wait by rivers edge
With flowers for my hair
Under a green cathedral
Dream heaven with me there

    Very melancholy and nostalgic write.
Loved the last stanza how you subtlety put hope and wishes together.

What a beautiful piece you have penned. The imagery and word choices are awesome.

Eyes wide open, face the darkness
    Insomnia rules the deep
    Walk in fields of flowers
    Where lovers chance to meet

This stanza says so much. Especially for those who suffer with insomnia.

Tears of life no longer fall
    Or wash away the pain
    Empty words from long ago
    Still echo a sad refrain

Sometimes when pain has lasted for so many years, Teras no longer give relief. The pain just stays and becomes a part of who you are.

Close your eyes upon the world
    Dreamers long for sleep
Hide no more the aching heart
    Sadness longs to weep

If we could only stay in the dreams. Yet when we wake the reality is still there for us to face.

Will you wait by rivers edge
    With flowers for my hair
    Under a green cathedral
    Dream heaven with me there

I love the ending and the vision it paints for the mind. If only we could stay in a dream this beautiful.
    Excellent job!

    Deana,

    Such a beautiful, romantic poem!
I love this image you have portrayed here. This stanza I have singeled out was my favorite, but the whole poem is beautifully rendered!

    Hugs,

    Ingrid
