Washing the World Away

by Jennifer RIP Lesthat Hayden   Jun 21, 2008

Trapped inside this filthy place
I need a breath of air.
This pain I need to erase.
I need someone to care.

The windows to my soul
are smeared with hate filled dirt.
My heart now has a hole
filled up with tears and hurt.

My mind once fed is now starved
and my hands once passionate now lost.
My body once clean now carved
with scars of frustration and exhaust.

I've walked so far my feet now bleed
with each new step I take.
And yet I manage to proceed.
I feel my body quake.

The clouds above let loose with rain
and I can breath once more.
Washing away the dirt and pain.
Vision's clear; feet not sore.

The scars: gone. Hand's passion: restored.
I felt it drip and in the puddle it swirled.
I am no longer ignored.
Ah, it feels so good washing away the world.

Awesome job, like any other poem. You used the title very nicely, had some great word choice, and had a great flow to the poem. Nice work. 5/5.
