Rozan

Rozan
Rozan, you're twenty one today
You're all grown up and getting ready to leave your home and go away
You're in the summer of your life
And I guess not so long from now I'll be watching some guy, take you for his wife

Into a lovely strong young woman you have grown
Since the day your tender seed was sown
It seems like just the other day that you were crawling on the floor
And now it's hey dad where're the Keys while heading for the door

And if like everybody else I can give you some advice
My advice would be, live fast and love slowly
And always give a second thought, when someone gives advice

And if I could grant you one wish of my choosing
Then I wish you, love
Because for twenty years I've loved Elsie so much that it aches
And if you don't experience this, you won't know what you're losing

Life is filled with so much joy, it's there for the taking
Grab it and hold on with both arms every morning upon waking
Don't be drawn into other people's sadness
Rather try to cheer them up and warm them with your gladness

So here's to your dad and your mom on a job well done
As they move toward autumn and the setting of the sun
All their achievements are eclipsed by you my girl
Because today you're twenty one

This poem completely captured me in every way. The depth of love and concern could not have been expressed more eloquently, delivered more sincerely, or seen more clearly, but for the tears it brought to this fathers eyes. Beautifully done Grant.
    5/5...Jim
