I Fought On My Own

by The Angel of Secrets   Jun 23, 2008

The blood fell in an endless waterfall,
I tried not to crash, I tried standing tall.
I tried to hard to make it work, make you understand,
Make me want to reach out, and give you my hand.

I wanted to give myself to you, when I was blind,
But I had questions which the answer I could never find.
I spoke to you as if you were listening to me,
And I tried to show you all I was, what I wanted to be.

But you never listened did you? You had walked away,
And you had left me long ago, when I met that awful day.
I was filled with hatred beyond what anyone could see,
And by heavens power you knew you were the only one who could see me.

But you never looked, did you? You never cared,
Even after all the thoughts and feelings I had shared.
You were busy taking care of other people that day,
Even though I fell on my face, trying so hard to pray.

You told me you would be there for me, when I needed you,
You made me feel like all I needed was to believe you were true.
But how am I supposed to believe when you left me, where the wind had blown?
How am I supposed to believe, when I fought my beasts on my own?

You must have seen, you must have known,
After what I'd said and what I'd shown.
I trusted you and you betrayed me when I fell,
Did you think I wouldn't notice, did you think I couldn't tell?

I dropped begging on my knees,
and told you of the things no one sees.
But when the rain came, I stood alone,
and I fought the monsters all on my own.
