Our hellish 'hood

by Fredy   Jun 24, 2008

I've walked through hell,
and I've gotten to know it well;
because I've been living there for the past 5 years,
I've seen mothers shed their tears,
over their fallen sons,
I've seen the same story told in different songs.

there's demons and ghouls on every street,
they all walk to their own beat.
two colors divide my 'hood
and here nothing we do is ever good,
and we take pride on where live,
but who we trying to deceive?
there is so much to achieve,
but we think we've done everything,
just because we've committed every sin...

I've seen comrades lose their life,
I've seen Friends go t o sleep with a knife,
under their bed,
to wake up the next morning with their hopes dead...
and i look at this with dread,
because i know we could change our fate,
before is too late,
but we don't want to listen,
we ignore the voice of reason,
because we rather be on the streets selling drugs,
than teaching our little brothers how to squash bugs...

and our future seems gray,
but at the end of the day...
we can get out of this maze,
we could go onto the world with another face,
and maybe just maybe our 'hood won't be such a hellish place.....

Definitely a truth so many have to endure. Your poem was emotional, sad yet hopeful. Good Job
