A naval hero

by tri tran   Jun 26, 2008

Darkness dazzled my mind.
I, a lonely meanderer,
entered the vortex of the souls,
forever, yearned to return to Earth.

Vietnam, without my presence,
lilies, without amber petals,
twilight, dimming lavender,
longed to see mornings blossom;

the bloody battlefield, now, silent,
drifting like a sad dream, alone,
to a land of the free.
The last bomb had already exploded,

my shadow, a hero, rested at sea.
