Mutilated Fence Post

by Jennifer RIP Lesthat Hayden   Jun 26, 2008

There's a mutilated fence post staring at me
coated in all of nature's debris.
Rotted wood covered in vines,
each year the post's wellness declines.

The leaves growing off are of green and red.
The vines themselves I believe are all dead.
All around are weeds and overgrown grass.
It's a poor little fence post the plants all harass.

It changes each season with more or less
leaves and vines, though still in distress.
An overgrown jungle of rural neglect.
We live in the country what do you expect?
