Never forgetting

by Jessie   Jun 28, 2008

I remember fishing and canoeing with my dad.
And that huge musky fish we used to try and catch but never did.
I remember our father-daughter trip up north.
And bring your daughter to work days.
Daddy's friends giving me hot coco that burned my lips.
I remember that big grey ghost he called his truck.
I remember that I was supposed to learn how to drive in it.
I remember he went to work at six and I would wake up especially early and make him eggs.
I remember sitting there watching football with him on Sundays.
And Monica saying she liked the dolphins better then the packers to get a reaction.
I recall our special lunches, split pea and ham soup, no bows just two spoons and the pot.
Stakes were his specialty and no one could get them just right but him.
I clearly see how he taught me all my math facts and how to ski.
I miss our talks on the chair lift,
our Sunday ritual,
our special luncheons,
his big gray ghost,
early morning eggs,
fishing with a purpose,
steaming hot coco,
dolphins vs. packers,
succulent stakes on the grill,
his special math card games,
I remember and I'm never going to forget.
