The forbidden love poem

by Michael Verterel   Jun 29, 2008

How is it we are forbidden to love with our own thoughts and minds

how is it everyones opinion must be heard even without being asked to share them

is it they who decide upon our faith

is it they who know what we want

why is it we can no longer love by the beauty within the beast

why is it our words don't mean a thing to the people who are said to understand

is it so wrong to love a being for their brains and not their charms

is it they who control our emotions and beliefs in life

They should be the one's forbidden to love, not us...

Skin and gender should not keep true love from enduring what true beauty is left in the world....

All that matters is that we're happy, society should not matter if it's against true love...

so here we make a stand, here we connect what ever strength is left in us to reunite the dignity our presidents have demolished with their mistakes....
