Don't Trust Appearances

by david kessel   Jun 29, 2008

When choosing a friend or a lover,
Don't judge ye the book by its cover-
Appearances can be deceiving:
Those seemingly good- leave you grieving;
Those seemingly bad, and ill tempered,
With honesty get you all pampered,
While tho'se, whos' mouths drip honey,
Are devious, evil and runny-
Right into your back they stick daggers,
In most unexpected of instants,
But dour-faced rubes, thugs and braggers,
In friendships are true and consistent.
Don't judge ye rough people too harshly,
Don't fall ye for smiles and praise,
Just study them long so that, lastly,'
You'd know their nature and ways.
